John Surowiecki

John Surowiecki is the author of four books of poetry: Flies (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2012), Barney and Gienka (CW Press, 2010), The Hat City after Men Stopped Wearing Hats (Washington Prize, Word Works, 2007), and Watching Cartoons Before Attending a Funeral (White Pine Prize, White Pine Press, 2003). Surowiecki hasJohn Surowiecki is the author written five full collections of poetry and seven chapbooks. His last book, Martha Playing Wiffle Ball in Her Wedding Dress and Other Poems, was a finalist for the 2018 Connecticut Book Award. Over the years, hes won a number of awards, including the Poetry Foundation Pegasus Award for verse drama (for his play My Nose and Me: A TragedyLite or TragiDelight in 33 Scenes), the Nimrod Pablo Neruda Prize, the silver medal in the Sunken Garden National Competition, the Washington Prize, a poetry fellowship from the state of Connecticut, and other awards. His first attempt at a novel, Pie Man, won the Nilsen Prize for a First Novel and was published by Southeast Missouri State Press in 2017. Poetry publications include: Alaska Quarterly Review, Carolina Quarterly, Folio, Gargoyle, Margie, Oyez Review, Mississippi Review, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Redivider, Rhino, The Southern Review, Tupelo Quarterly, West Branch, and Yemassee. also published six chapbooks, most recently Mr. Z., Mrs. Z., J.Z., S.Z (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2011).
